You’ve been trudging through the snow for months now. After walking through ice and slush everywhere you go, enough is enough! And just when you think it’s over, the snow simply keeps on coming. Rexburg is renowned for how brutal the long winter months can be. We’re also landlocked in the western United States. So, while we love our national parks, we don’t see that tropical greenery that makes you think, “Summer!” The BYUI greenhouse on campus is the perfect mini-retreat if you want a taste of that delicious sun and warm weather.
No matter how cold and blustery it is outside, the greenhouse is always a beautiful 75°. It’s completely free to visit, and it’s located on the BYU-Idaho Campus right next to the Benson building. There are several benches and chairs, so it’s the perfect place to study. Or if you’re from somewhere warm, just sit and enjoy the feeling of 75° on your skin. Close your eyes and listen to the soothing sound of water trickling and flowing throughout the building. You’ll feel like you’re not even in Rexburg anymore.
BYU-Idaho Horticulture Plant Shop
While you’re there, why not take a piece of that tropical beauty home with you? The BYU-Idaho Horticulture Plant Shop is located across the hall from the BYUI greenhouse. They sell beautiful succulents and plants at an affordable price. Pick one up and plant it at in your home!
