Last weekend, an Explore Rexburg writer got the chance to enjoy the drive-in experience at the family-friendly and date night approved venue. Here’s what she has to say about the drive-in experience. From the excitement of seeing a newly released movie to the oh-so-good buttery popcorn, the theater is a local escape into a dream world where everything is high definition. My experience at the Teton VU Drive-in resembled the classic movie theater experience mixed with a twist: cars instead of seats, cozy blankets instead of cold movie theater air and selection of grub that goes further than popcorn and candy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]We arrived at the movie just 20 minutes before showtime. Since it was our first time at Teton VU, we weren’t sure about the size of the screen or field. Thankfully, both are large enough to see the movie well from almost any spot. While most people cozied up in the back of trucks, some brought camping chairs and others (like us) opened the back of the car door for just as great of a view. There’s plenty of space to move around and set up however you’d like, which means kids don’t need to be confined to one tight seat the whole night and couples can cuddle the night away without the discomfort (and awkwardness) of movie theater chairs. To our surprise, the menu was large and provided plenty of options to satisfy our cravings, from affordable burgers to less-than-boring ice cream flavors like Huckleberry and Caramel brownie. We opted for the nachos, which at the cost of $3.50, were perfectly cheesy and large enough to fill two hungry movie-goers. You can expect the food to be more affordable than a traditional theater, so you’ll be making your wallet and tummy equally happy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]The best part of the experience may just be the double features. For $8, you’ve got a spot on the field for not one, but two movies. Two movies for the price of one? We’ll take it. Teton Vu plays new movies all throughout the summer, and the double features are typically opposite genres (meaning both you and your kids can enjoy the night.) This week’s double feature includes The Emoji Movie and Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets, giving you a night of family friendly comedy and thrilling science-fiction adventure. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]Overall, the Teton Vu Drive-in is a “must-go” spot for the summer. It combines the traditional movie theater experience with a more relaxed summer setting, perfect for all ages and movie-goers alike. Get out those blankets and head to the drive in for The Emoji Movie and Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets, playing now through August 3rd. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
