We saw some incredible baseball weather this week and especially the past couple of days. And although the sun and blue skies showed up, our Madison and Sugar-Salem varsity baseball teams still seem to be finding their way. Here’s to another week of fantastic weather and the start of something amazing for both of our local teams.

Get the recap for both teams and this weeks’ upcoming schedule here.

Madison

This week’s record: (0-6)

Season record: (2-12)

The Bobcats kept themselves very busy on the diamond this past week. Doubleheaders against Rigby on Tuesday and Highland on Friday took them on the road while they played at home on Monday against Hillcrest and Friday against Highland. Unfortunately, not even a home-field advantage could give them a W this week. They came close in game 2 on Tuesday against Rigby, as indicated by their 6-5 loss. Overall, there is much room for improvement and we believe our Bobcats are up to the task.

This week, they lighten the load a little bit with only three games: a home game against Skyline tonight at 4:00 p.m., at Bonneville Thursday (Apr. 26) at 4:30 p.m., and finishing off the week at home with another shot at the Bees (Apr. 27; 4:00 p.m.). They need our support — swing by and cheer on the Bobcats in their games this week!

Sugar-Salem

This week’s record: (1-2)

Season record: (7-8)

The Sugar-Salem Diggers started the week off right by claiming a sixth-inning lead in Tuesday’s game, leading to a 9-7 victory over Snake River. Our boys would barely bring in half as many runs the rest of the week, unfortunately. Early leads and powerful mounds held the Diggers to a 9-1 loss against Teton on Wednesday and 20-4 defeat on Friday against South Fremont. With the losses now outweighing the victories this season, we can hope that this varsity team is ready to rally and take this next week by storm.

This week, the Diggers stay home to recoup their efforts and pull back ahead. The week starts off on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. with another shot at Teton High School; they will finish off the week with a Friday home game against Shelley. Let’s take advantage of our Diggers’ week at home by going by and cheering them on to their next two victories!
