And four years ago, she went out to fix it.

“Our kids would often go to tournaments that ended on a Sunday,” Allen says. “So when they made it to the finals they would have to forfeit the championship game.”

In the LDS and other Christian faiths, Sunday is a day of rest and not recreation. By electing to not play these integral games on Sunday, a whole season of effort would come to naught.

Four years ago, Allen designed and began the Yellowstone Cup, Idaho’s first no-Sunday play soccer tournament.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”2/3″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]“We took a chance, four years ago,” she says. “The first year we had 42 teams. And it was a success because we didn’t know what to expect.”

The second and third years in the league yielded 80 teams. This year, there are 100.

“We may have to make it an invitational,” Allen laughs.

This year’s tournament runs from June 8 – June 10, and includes both boys’ and girls’ teams ages 8 to 19.

Allen says the tournament is unique because it is more of an event.

“We do a pool party for all the players and their families at Rexburg Rapids on Friday night,” Allen says. “It’s a huge success every year, they love it.”

Allen is grateful to be so involved in a cause like this, and for her committee of eleven people that help her run and organize this huge endeavor.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”2/3″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]“We run this all volunteer,” Allen says. “I couldn’t do it without my committee. They’re amazing.”
