Yesterday marked the official Hemming Village ribbon cutting for Cedars Heights and new businesses. Rexburg residents may now enjoy new retail and restaurants such as Five Guys Burgers and Fries and community housing on the upper level.

The Chamber of Commerce and members of the Hemming Family introduced themselves with introductory remarks. They included thanks for those involved in the process of working and building the housing.

Richie Webb’s, nephew of Lane Hemming, spoke for the majority of the introduction. In his the closing remarks of his speech, he said, “The thing that we’ve tried to do is high quality. A place that people can come and feel comfortable and feel like they are pleased to be a part of this community because we certainly are.”

The men’s and women’s housing each holds around 800 tenants and the new married housing has options for one or two bedrooms. It additionally has an Airbnb unit so those visiting out of town will have their own privacy. Tours of all the housing were offered as a part of the event.

Blisters BBQ was also gracious enough to provide lunch for this event. Plus, a special drawing was announced for two Jazz tickets. Anyone that could score a basket would get their name put in the draw in.

Grifols and Idaho Central Credit Union is opened, Five Guys opened today, and Righteous Slice will be opening its doors Thursday. All of these stores are located on the ground floor of the community housing on West 2nd South.

Several people were participants. People of the general public and surrounding businesses made sure to be here for this new beginning for Hemming Village.

This housing is filling up fast! All of next semester is completely full, but there are still openings for the winter semester. If you hurry this amazing housing could be the place that you call home.
