It’s one of the warmest winters Rexburg has had, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still capitalize on the periodic dumps of snow coming in.
Skiing is expensive, and even ice skating can get pricey. But luckily, a playground of sand dunes is at our disposal here in Rexburg. So grab that all-wheel-drive and head to hills for some sledding!
If you don’t already have sleds hit up the Outdoor Resource Center (ORC) of BYU-Idaho. Tubes are available to rent for $6, and sleds for $5. Walmart’s also got your back if you’re looking for something more permanent.
If worse comes to worse get a tub lid or an air mattress. A word of caution, though: do not use thin materials like a tarp or yoga mat. Those rocks really like to say hello when you least expect it.
The drop-off is insane but you just can’t beat that amusement-park-like feel and hardy workout as you pickaxe your way back up the dune for some serious slide.
Of course, as with all sledding and winter sports, be sure to use your best judgment. We love for you to have a good time, but safety always comes first.
