That’s a lot of time to get to know each other! Mason Downey told us how Nate Webb happened to joined their team over 10 years ago. With that many years playing together, it’s clear that these boys have developed a friendship and comradery that has contributed to their excellent winning streak and good sportsmanship.
“I remember when Nate moved to Rexburg; it was in the 3rd grade. We both went to Lincoln Elementary in Rexburg. There were 10 of us who loved to play basketball together at recess. The problem was that the exact same 10 kids played together every single recess. Nate was the new kid in town. He loved basketball too, and one day he asked if he could play with us. The other kids told him that he couldn’t play with us because we already had 10 kids. I felt really bad, so as he started to walk away, I ran up to him and told him he could definitely play with us. Ever since that day in the 3rd grade, both Nathan and I have always played on the same team.”
