The time for spring cleaning is here! The concept of spring cleaning typically consists of cleaning out unwanted items or cluttered areas. It’s also the perfect time to give your home or apartment a deep clean. Spring cleaning could also mean renewing your personal goals or getting outside more now that winter has ended!

Set goals

If the thought of spring cleaning seams daunting, try setting small goals for yourself. You don’t have to do it all in one day. It’s called spring cleaning for a reason — it may take you all spring!

Goal setting is a great way to make progress without getting too discouraged. Maybe your week goal should be to finish the living room and the next week could be the bedroom. Or you could just try spending an hour a day until you get to all the things on your list.

Deep clean

Now is the time to give your house a nice deep clean. Get to the places you’ve been avoiding, including moving your fridge and getting under there or sweeping out the garage. Open the blinds, windows and doors and start getting your house nice and clean. It will take time, so don’t get worried if it doesn’t look done in a day.

Start decluttering

If you are like me, you have a hard time saying goodbye to things. But this time of the season is a great time to start getting rid of things that you don’t need or use!

If you need an extra push, try looking up Marie Kondo on Youtube. She is well-known for tidying up your home, office and more. She focuses on cleaning based on things that bring you joy. You will love her work as she inspires you to make your own space a place of joy instead of stress and clutter.

Work on the outside

As important as it is to clean inside for spring, you should also do some spring cleaning outside. It’s been too cold to do things outside lately so now is the time to get to those outdoor projects.

Start by clearing out items and then start getting to work. Plant flowers and mow your lawn. If you don’t have a yard you can still get some potted plants for your house or windows. This helps brighten up your space and makes it actually feel like spring. Clear out the leaves from gutters, touch up paint, clean up spider webs and other dirt.

Just start sprucing up the outside in some way!

Go outside

Part of spring cleaning could also include cleaning up your lifestyle. Go outside and enjoy some fresh air and warmer weather. Try heading to the park more often and go on some hikes nearby. Doesn’t it feel so good to finally go outside again?

Renew/make goals

Did you make some goals for the new year? How are you doing with those goals? Take spring cleaning as a chance to do some spring renewing!

Get back to what you want to be doing or try making some new goals for yourself. One could be to try something new like Yoga or a hobby.

Spring cleaning is all about freshness and renewal. Whether you are working inside your home, out in the yard, or on yourself there is much you can do. Make a plan, set some goals, and get started today!
