We all know that Rexburg is home to tough competitors and brilliant talent. And in the bid to fill the planned vacancy on the Idaho Supreme Court, Greg Moeller has advanced to the next round.

7th District Judge Greg Moeller interviewed yesterday to assume the seat on the Court. If he is chosen as replacement for retiring Justice Daniel Eismann, Moeller will run for a six-year term in the 2018 election.

“It is such an honor to be named as a finalist by the Judicial Council for this position on the Idaho Supreme Court,” Moeller told Explore Rexburg. “The pool of applicants was very deep and talented, and I am humbled to have advanced to the next round. I want to thank everyone who contacted the Council on my behalf; I’m certain they made a big difference.”

Three other finalists advanced: 5th District Judge Richard Bevan of Twin Falls, Boise attorney Rebecca Rainey, and 2nd District Judge John Stegner of Moscow.

“Of the other three finalists, I know the two district judges well,” Moeller adds. “Judge Bevan and Judge Stegner are outstanding jurists and good friends. I don’t know Ms. Rainey well yet, but she has an impressive resume and background. I am certain the governor will have a very difficult decision to make.”

The Idaho Supreme Court’s short list will be sent to Gov. Butch Otter, who will make the appointment.

We are very happy and proud to see one of our own in consideration. Congratulations, Judge Moeller!
