Thanks for coming out and supporting our Madison and Sugar-Salem varsity teams this past week! There were moments of triumph and disappointment, and plenty of the excitement that we love so much about America’s favorite pastime. In case you missed it, here is how things measured up this past week, and what to expect this upcoming week.
Madison
This week’s record: (0-4)
Season record: (2-16)
Overall, we saw a disappointing week for Bobcat baseball; an almost-full week’s schedule offered promise but our boys were unable to deliver. Early leads for the opponents seemed to be the name of the game, and a late score on Saturday’s game against Bonneville sealed the week’s string of L’s.
This week, the Bobcats have a final shot at scoring a win against Idaho Falls High School in Tuesday’s away game. Make the short trip to go out and support our boys as they push for victory in this league game. Good luck!
Sugar-Salem
This week’s record: (1-1)
Season record: (8-9)
The Sugar-Salem Diggers experienced their third straight loss in Wednesday’s game against Shelley, though not after a hard-fought battle. The Digges’ superb pitching only kept Shelley to one run, but their hitting (despite a double by Kyle Ostermiller and outhitting Shelley two to one) wasn’t enough to pull them up. They redeemed themselves with a win against Teton on Friday; despite allowing four runs in the fourth, a strong early lead of five runs in the first saved Sugar-Salem.
This week sees the Diggers on the road. Tonight’s game against Shelley got rained out and will be rescheduled for Thursday, with a face-off against South Fremont leading the week on Wednesday. The first game of district will take place on Saturday — stay tuned for more details on that. These last two league games are Sugar-Salem’s last chances to make this regular season a winning one for them, so let’s make it a point to go cheer them on!
